The Revolutionary War pension application of Mrs. Jane Wilson #W216 has Joseph Wilson, brother of Robert Wilson, as one of the six sons of Robert and Eleanor Carothers Wilson to serve in the American Revolution. Joseph's birthdate was given as 1749 in a deposition made by Joseph's brother, Moses Wilson. He was likely born in Pennsylvania. In his deposition dated July 1848, Moses named his six older brothers who were soldier in the Revolution and their birthdates.
Joseph Wilson was the last of the ten brothers to leave Mecklenburg County and move to Williamson County, TN. He was still living in Mecklenburg County NC in 1814 and moved to Williamson County about 1816. Joseph Wilson was also listed on the 1820 census Williamson County, TN living adjacent to Thomas Wilson, Josiah Wilson and the widow Jane Wilson in the College Grove area.
